What is your definition of exercise?
At Striation 6 our definition of exercise is force applied to a motor pattern plus the conditions under which it is applied. This means we specialize in all forms of resistance training and sport. They include but are not limited to Yoga, Pilates, Mixed Martial Arts, Sports Specific Training for (Golf, Ice Hockey and Tennis etc…), Weight Loss Programs, Running, Bounding and of course our exclusive Isometric Training System™.
What is our philosophy on exercise?
We believe exercise can be both a cause and a cure for many of today’s health related aliments and conditions. It is through this vantage point that a strategic exercise prescription consisting of muscular (re) education and microprogession be developed for client success. No longer is the “just do it” mentality for exercise acceptable, we view this approach as haphazard and bordering on professional negligence and / or malpractice.
What can I expect from my first exercise experience at Striation 6?
The initial meeting is used to gather information. Without a concrete understanding of what your expectations and goals are, past exercise and injury history that we are dealing with, current level of commitment, and most importantly your present neuromuscular settings, we simply cannot help you. Once this background information has been established our team of exercise professionals convene and strategically develop a six-month action plan. Each action plan is tailored specifically to the findings obtained and personal capabilities of the client.
You mentioned earlier that exercise might be a cause. What do you mean by that?
The majority of exercise participants are not aware of the structures and functions they are attempting to train. This lack of applied knowledge relating to the art of exercise often has an immediate and negative impact on the cardiovascular, skeletal, neurological, and muscular systems of the participant. The goal of most exercise prescriptions is to create a certain level of internal structural change through the application of external force on the body. Therefore it is optimal to know what you are attempting to accomplish when you begin exercise.
Two of the most important pieces of information that people need to know prior to starting an exercise or sport specific training program:
